Siena owes its worldwide fame to the horse race held twice a year in the main square, Piazza del Campo. The most enchanting feature of the town centre is the harmonious meeting of narrow alleys completely scattered with workshops and art galleries.
Visit Siena's nearby towns:
San Gimignano, known as Manhattan of the Middle Ages thanks to the large number of medieval towers, it is a village completely contained by its thirteenth-century walls. San gimignano has been listed as mankind heritage by Unesco because of its marvellous and absolutely unaltered thirteenth-century architecture.
